Andi has been drawing and painting since she was old enough to hold a brush. It began with coloring books and painting plaster craft figurines as a toddler, then developed into oil painting at age 8 when she started taking classes from painter and stretcher bar maker, Sydney Littenberg.
In school, she was an editor on the yearbook staff in the 8th, 11th and 12th grades as well as her sophomore & junior years in college. Throughout her elementary and secondary education, Andi took art classes and participated in exhibitions. She also excelled in math, and meeting her requirement early, was able to elect the art program in high school at Notre Dame Academy in West Los Angeles.
Growing up in LA allowed her unique access to highly successful artists and teachers from the myriad of local design schools. She was particularly influenced by renowned glass artist and family friend Steven V. Correia, as well as fine artist, Art Center graduate and Brewery resident (at the time) Victor Hugo Zayas, who taught figure drawing at Loyola Marymount University during her enrollment there. She continued her oil painting studies later in life with painter and Art Center graduate John Zarcone at Santa Monica College.
Additional direct influences included Smithsonian artist and Mexican-American muralist Judy Baca, who was a bookkeeping client for a short time, and Patricia Correia Gallery in Santa Monica, where she served as gallery assistant and fine art printer collaborating with gallery artists on digital reproductions with artist led modifications.
Andi also has maintained an accounting career that began in 1990 at age 14, working as a clerk for a small CPA firm. She started an independent bookkeeping business in cooperation with the same firm in 2002. By 2004, she was referred to and joined the transitioning finance team of a large party rental company with headquarters in the Hayden Tract in Culver City. Within a year, she found herself at the forefront of their national expansion (through market consolidation) traveling nationwide to perform finance integrations for newly acquired companies.
By 2008, the desire to bring her art forward became a matter of self-care. After leaving her very big job, she found face painting and henna as opportunity to reconnect with her creativity while earning an income.
Andi enjoys connecting with people and bringing their imaginations to life. Co-creation is the most inspiring part of the gig and pushes her to develop her talent, expand her ideas and skillsets, and improve her portfolio with every customer and guest. She hopes that the people she touches feel the love she shares in the experience.
Andi moved to Ventura County and became 805 Body Art in 2014. She found home in Ojai Valley in 2022.
